Conrad nodded and got up to toss his drink as well. "Sure!" He followed her toward the baseball-tossing stand and he gave the operator a few dollars to get him started. He couldn't get it on the first try- that he knew already, but after a few he was pretty sure he could get it!
He threw the first one, and sure enough, it bounced off of the jugs and landed on the floor. He frowned and wound up to try again. This time he bounced it off the right jug, but it only moved slightly. After two more throws, he was pretty confident in the last one.
"Ready for this?" he asked Skylar, winding up to get his prize. He threw the ball and the jugs went down one by one! The operator of the stand looked at him, surprised.
"Anything on the top shelf," he said, pointing at a number of big stuffed animals. They weren't 'there's no room on my bed anymore' big, but they were 'I can wrap my arms around this and show it off around the carnival' big for sure. Conrad, of course, pointed at the row for Skylar, glad to have performed his mandatory chivalrous act for the day.

Skylar: She ate a little off her cotton candy as she watched him.
"Woah!!!" She said in surprise as he nailed the throw. She hadn't expected that, she never won at these! Even her dad wasn't any good at them, really! She bounced a little on her feet as she chose. She wound up choosing a huge, soft fluffy panda with a dark spot under one eye. She shoved it under one arm, walking away. "I don't think I can carry anymore spoils," she explained.
She began making her way to the castle again. Maybe they would actually get there this time! But no, she got distracted again.
"Ooh, a Ferris wheel! I love Ferris wheels!" She said, hurrying along to it. It was surprisingly big, considering the overall size of the carnival. And it moved at a nice slow pace that would give downright excellent views of the surrounding scenery and city. She bounced a little again as she waited for him to catch up, the sugar starting to hit her system. She pulled off some more cotton candy, letting it dissolve in her mouth.

Conrad beamed at her discovering the ferris wheel. THAT was a ride he could agree on with zero reservations!
"EYYY, Connie!" the girl operating the wheel said as they got close. "Oh! You're still here?" Conrad asked.
"You kidding me? You know what this place pays. I'm not sure it's legal!" She laughed and glanced over at Skylar, giving her a once-over, rather impressed. "Who's this tall drink of water?" she said with a laugh.
Conrad scratched his neck. "This is Skylar. Skylar, this is Janet."
"Pleased ta meetcha," she said a little silly on purpose with a bow. Conrad handed her a five and waved his hands defensively when she tried to give any of it back. "Please- you've been here way too long." She couldn't fight that- it was true.
Conrad made his way toward the car that two people had just gotten out of and helped Skylar up the step. "Hey, do you want to leave the bear here?" he asked, gesturing to Janet. He reached for the bear, but wouldn't fight her if she wanted to keep it.

Skylar: She grinned at the operator's comments, putting out an (admittedly very very thin) hip and lifting her head a little. When Conrad tried to take the bear, however, she hugged it a little closer, frowning slightly and putting her face protectively in its fur, looking up at him.
"But... why?" she asked.

Conrad put his hands up defensively. Okay he sure hadn't asked for that.
"Okay, okay! You can keep it!" He looked over at Janet and she closed the car with a wink at Skylar.
"I might've stolen it anyway," she quipped before starting up the ride so the next people could get in. It would be slow and stop several times for a bit before she started up the ride properly- it was Saturday, after all, and even if this place was pretty underground, it still had enough customers to stay in business, obviously. Conrad fake-yawned and stretched to drape his hand across the back of their seat. Success.

Skylar: She let out a noise of fake offense when Janet threatened to steal her bear. Once they were securely in the cart, she tucked him under the seat. When she sat back up she noticed Conrad put his arm alllllmost around her, although it was more along her seat than her actual shoulders. She gave him a side glance. Smooth.
The wheel turned slowly up. Finally when it was full of customers, the ride began proper. They began their slow revolutions. When they reached the top, Skylar found she could even see the city from here. She scooted over to the window, peeking out. No, sadly her apartment building was not visible from here. When she moved back, she found that Conrad had withdrew his arm, either from nerves or the fact that maybe he thought she was going to stay by the window, instead of coming back to sit next to his cute self again. Well he was wrong, wasn't he.
As they made their second revolution, they came to a stop at the top. Skylar took a quick peek out the window again, hoping nothing was wrong, but she knew some Ferris wheels just went this way. Of course, the fact that it just so happened the be their carriage at the top did not seem like a coincidence to her. She smiled over at Conrad, then looked out the windows. As she glanced away, she noticed his hand sitting neatly on the seat between them. She slid hers over, covering his and wrapping around his fingers, smiling to herself out the window. What a freaking cutie.

Conrad managed a glance down at their hands, feeling a rising blush on his cheeks. He turned to look back out the window, but adjusted to hold her hand more securely as he did. YES, he was nervous beyond belief, but he was able to tell himself truthfully that it WAS just holding hands and that it wasn't exactly the epitome of intimacy. It was with a start that he realized that other than when he was little and held his sister's hand to cross the street, he'd never wanted to hold hands with someone before. How sheltered was he. This was getting to the point of ridiculousness.

Skylar: She grinned a little as she caught him blushing. What the even heck. What the heck. Waht the hcek. How dare he. She was just HOLDING his HAND. But really, she thought it was adorable and wanted to kiss him a little bit for it. But if holding hands made him blush like that, kissing might just give him an aneurysm.
The ride eventually started again and deposited them safely down below. Skylar released his hand to pick up her panda and exit the cart, but it wasn't much later that she snagged it again, lacing their fingers together. Along with the cute blushing, she had to admit she liked holding his hand - it was warm and solid, and actually kinda soft for someone who worked minimum wage jobs, and it spread a nice warmth up her arm. She didn't care that that was something she associated with middle school crushes, she liked it.

Conrad was feeling pretty proud of himself the longer they held hands, honestly. Like, hey look at this, this is mine. See her blue eyes? Well look away because the hand attached is holding MY HAND haha, suckers.
"So, is it castle time?" he asked, voice trailing up a bit to reference Adventure Time. "I think you'll like what's inside if we can make it there!" It was true, he had a feeling. Plus, that was where you could win tickets, and their prizes weren't COMPLETELY ABSURD, just pretty absurd.

Skylar: She grinned over at him.
"I think we can make it there, unless you planned on being a distraction," she said with a wink. Despite her proof of ADD tendencies, they did in fact make it to the castle. Skylar's first reaction was a sigh of relief as they went from hot outdoors to a wave of air conditioning. Her second reaction was a squeal of delight. Before her lay an arcade, of sorts! She looked around excitedly, immediately spotting several games that she loved.
"Awesome!" she said appreciatively, looking for the token machines or counter.

Conrad found the token machine first, though, and slipped a 10 dollar bill in to get tokens from that. When they began spilling out, he picked up a plastic container they gave out for these things and dumped them all in, only taking a couple out for himself.
"Go for it," he said with a grin. "If you need more hit me up, I have a coupon." If he spent ten more dollars in here he could get fifty tokens free. Yes please? He wondered if she was going to keep carrying the bear around or if she'd allow him to put it up front, but he was afraid to ask this time- what with the face she made last time.

Skylar: With a whoop, she dug out a small handful of tokens and ran off to her favorite games. She sat on the stool, tucked the panda between her calves, and began playing intensely. She worked squirt guns, smashed keys, and hopped on weight sensitive pads. She collected her tickets gleefully, finding Conrad again. She shoved her tickets in the container, taking out a few more tokens.
"You wanna to DDR?" she asked. It was one of the few multi-player activities that still granted tickets.

Conrad, feeling good, said, "Only if you feel like getting thrashed." He grinned at her and shoved his pocketful of tickets in her container as well.

Skylar: "Oh really?" she said, rising to the challenge. "We'll see about that." She grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the machine. They had to wait for the people currently using it to leave. She leaned on the metal bar, huffing slightly. Finally it was free, and she jumped up on the pad, pumping it with tokens.
"Alright, what setting do you need. Don't be ashamed to say Easy, everyone has to start somewhere," she said, grinning wickedly.

Conrad scoffed at her, almost without thinking. "Please. If you don't put me on hard it'll be truly unfair." It wasn't a lie, not really, considering he really was extremely good at this game.
