Distinguishing features: White eyes!! He gets mistaken for the undead from time to time. He also has bags under his eyes.
Build of body: Thin and fraile. No muscle.
Hair colour: Dark brown with natural dark blonde highlights.
Hair style: Curly and messy! It's all over the place. His mom used to help him with it, but as of now he's on his own. He can't cut his own hair very well, but isn't bothered if it gets in his eyes too much. It naturally parts to his right side.
Posture: Semi-slouchy.
Tattoos: None
Piercings: He has small gauges in his ears!
Typical clothing: Whatever's leftover. Usually too big, but he's pretty much used to that. A lot of layers because during nights it can get chilly. He wears his blanket around his neck to keep warm, but also because he's lost a few in the past. Blankets are hard for him to keep track of :C
Personality Likes: + Being safe
+ Joking with people he can trust
+ Learning voices so he can recognize others
+ Nighttime (really doesn't make a differece to him)
+ Surviving
+ Figuring out what's around him and then freaking people out
+ Making fun of his blindness (only in good taste. If he knows you're kidding he'll get a good laugh out of it, and makes a lot of jokes on his own)
Dislikes: - Storms
- Not being able to tell what's going on
- When crowds of new people are talking and he can't tell the voices apart
- When his hands get gross and he can't use them to feel around
- LOUD NOISES because they are disorientating
- Being overstimulated. It happeneds often and he has to stop what he's doing and rest
- When people joke about his parents dying
- Staying quiet about things he's sort of aware go on, but can't prove
- Being hurt physcially or emotionally, and then when people don't believe him
- People who think he's completely stupid or incapable because of his sight.
Education: Ohio State School for the Blind. He was partway in his Freshman year.
Fears: ~ Rain. Rain renders all of his senses useless (touch, hearing and smell). It's like a blind person going blind again. When there's thunder (especially loud thunder) it can make him so over stimulated he can't do anything. Plus, you know, thunder is pretty scary on it's own.
~ Zombies. It's even worse when you can't see them and can't always hear them coming, either. He relies on others for his protection.
~ Not being useful (and thus, loosing his protection) and having to face everything alone
~ Dying, physical pain, and going deaf are pretty up there too.
Personal goals: Survive, because Mom and Dad would have wanted him too. He wants to get so good at echolocation that he can fend for himself and leave the group forever, but he's not sure that will ever happen.
General attitude: Generally, Henry is very quiet, softspoken and distant. He is still mourning the loss of his parents and the sudden changes that came with their deaths. While very solumn and a bit of a crybaby, he does have a sense of humor that only shows itself once in awhile. Henry is very resourceful, but will often keep his good ideas to himself out of spite for others. If someone has wronged him he holds a grudge, but his quiet demeanor makes it hard to note. Once he opens up to anyone he is very sweet and sensitive, but only if he believes he can trust you. He is not very strong, but has a strong will to do good. He just doesn't always act on it.
Religious values: Christian. His mother and father were devout in their faith. He sorta was before they died, but as of now has a hard time feeling close to God.
General intelligence: Above average. Nothing amazing, but he's quick, and can process things extremely quickly.
General sociability: A little below average. He wants friends, but it's hard for him right now. Those who do reach out to him can be plesently suprized by how much he appreciates them, though!
Health Illnesses (if any): Corneal Opacity. His corneas (rather than being transparent) and white and milky, leaving him completely blind. He's been since birth. While he was on the donor list for new corneas, he hasn't a high priority and never recived a transplant.
Allergies (if any): None known.
Sleeping habits: He sleeps mostly during the day. Rather than sleeping a full 8 or 9 hours, he breaks it up into two or three distinct naps. He's awake most of the nights, but it changes as he's needed.
Energy level: Below average. He gets tired from thinking/percieving too much. It's a lot of work!
Eating habits: What he can. Usually enough but never more.
Memory: Good! He can remember voices of those who he's talked to several times, especially if there's something distinctive about it. Places (such as the camp) are remembered through mental mapping. He remembers events very solidly, but things he has learned (math, ect) did not stick very well.
Any unhealthy habits: Not so much. He chews his nails! They have to be short though.
History Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Childhood: His mother was an anthropologist, and his father worked in enviornmental studies! He studied solar technology, specifically. Their first and only child was born blind due to Corneal opacity. Rather than try to get a transplant (he was put on the list but it was unlikely), they tried to encourage their son to learn to live normally. Henry went to a school for blind students and did fairly well. He never minded being blind in itself (he didn't really know otherwise, to be honest), but he did mind people who were rude about it. Nonetheless his childhood was happy. Some friends at school messed around with echolocation because they were sick of bringing blind canes everywhere. Henry tried at it too, but wasn't very good.
Teen years: He was 13 when everything went insane. His parents pulled him out of school and did their best to avoid everything and shelter him. He had next to no idea of what was going on. He doesn't even remember the early days very well, they all seemed so blurred together.
Eventually his parents started to move from group to group, hoping to find a good fit. They had a hard time finding one that would take in Henry too before meeting Jackson and his group.
They had services he could use - a good knowing of nature and how it works between the two of them. Henry's dad could fix solar panels too, which was quite useful. They worked hard for him so that Henry would have it all right, and he really did. It was comfortable, and he didn't feel too in danger at first. Then Jackson took his parents on a scouting trip, and came back without them. After days Henry started to assume the worst, and gossip around the camp seemed to confirm it.
Just two months later, Henry is still torn by his parent's departure. It went downhill from there, however. Seeing as he was just dead weight, the members closest to Jackson started to push him around and threaten to lose him, too. Worried he couldn't offer much, he started to make due with the few skills he had. Using echolocation through verbal clicks and careful listening, Henry could determine the surrounding area. This very much helped Jackson and his team because they could now effortlessly travel in the dark of night- when other groups were at their most vulnerable. Henry has a good idea of what these guys do, but he is too scared to say anything because his ability isn't enough to sustain himself alone.
Relationships Parents: He was very close to their parents before they died. He tries to do things they would have wanted him too, but it makes him very heart heavy.
Siblings: None
Any enemies (and why): None. He swears Ulma is out to get him, though. She's so scary... He really doesn't like Jackson either, but doesn't consider him an enemy. More as bad guy in a movie.
Children: None
Friends: He's befriended Finn as it stands! He was treated fairly well when his parents were alive, so many people avoided him. Now it's still hard to talk to anyone, but joking with Finn is his favorite hobby!
Best friend(s): Important friends/relatives (explain): Love interest (if any): None
Combat Peaceful or violent: Peaceful.
Weapon(s): None.
Style of fighting: Henry never sees combat. He can't hold his own, so his only option is to run. He'd prefer not to though, if he can help it, because it's way too hard to percieve anything that fast. If he makes too much noise, the clicking doesn't work very well.
Others Hobbies: He used to love to read, but it's impossible now. He can read braile, but how often does one come across that?? He tries to hone his clicking though, and is constantly doing it, even if he's alone. He would like to learn to fight too, but he can't see himself ever being too good. He spends most of his free time sleeping.
Guilty pleasures: He imagines that everyone around him is odd shapes and sizes. If someone's voice changes rapidly and he can't tell why, sometimes he makes up a ridiculous reason to make himself laugh.
Pet peeves (if any): When people ask him stupid questions because he's blind. He also hates nicknames Jackson or any of his groupies give him (Cry Baby Henry is not funny and it never will be). He also HATES how Jackson and his crew know they have to be quiet for him to listen, but still chit-chat anyway. WHY.
Pets: None
Talents: Echolocation! He can determine his surroundings by clicking his tongue and listening for the vibrations. His hearing is very senitive, and he creates vivid mental maps of whats around him. In silence, he can determine what something is made out of, it's height, width and girth, how far away it is, and the speed its going. Pretty useful for zombies actually, provided if he has the upperhand. He can also distinguish between people through their voices and tones (the better he knows them, the more accurate it is). In place of his tongue clicks, he can lightly stop his foot or snap. He stopped using a cane though, because he wants to hone his ears rather than his sense of touch.
Color affiliated with them: Pink
Favourite type of music: Soft listening. Anything too wild makes him overstimulated. For now though, he tries not to listen to anything but his surroundings.
